UPDATE mit Video: Neil Youngs neuer Song 'Hole in the Sky'

Neil Young hat in Perth zum Auftakt der 2013 Alchemy Tour Australien einen neuen Song präsentiert. "Hole in the Sky" handelt vom Ozon-Loch, Neil Youngs neue Liebe zur Sonnenenergie sowie von den zu Ende gehenden, alten, fossilen Energieträgern wie Öl und Kohle. (UPDATE: Song-Video unten)

Im Kern geht es darum, dass sein Hybridfahrzeug LincVolt mit Ethanol aus nachhaltig erzeugter Zellulose-Biomasse fährt. Und die braucht Sonne zum Wachsen (Make my engine run, be my destiny). Benzin als fossiler CO2-Verursacher, der das Loch Himmel mit verursacht, will er nicht mehr verwenden (I'll never burn again that dying energy). Interessant ist die Verbindung zu POET-Fuel, das LincVolt verwendet. Es scheint fast, als ob der Musiker und Poet Neil Young dem Biotreibstoff-Hersteller POET mit dem Song eine poetische Schützenhilfe leistet.

Auch seine für Ende März angekündigte Fahrt mit LincVolt nach Washington, um gegen die Keystone Öl-Pipeline zu demonstrieren, wird im Song thematisiert (Keep on working on the poisoned pipeline / I love the sun). "Hole in the Sky" ist also eine klassische "Öko-Hymne" in der Tradition von "Mother Earth" oder "Peaceful "Valley" und der Begleit-Song zur kommenden LincVolt-USA-Tour.
